Money Wreath – Graduation Gift Idea with Video Tutorial

This is the perfect project for when you want to give something crafty, but all they asked for is cash – it’s a win win!  And just in time for the upcoming graduation season!

Supplies needed to make this project:

  • FloraCraft Make It: Fun® Foam: Wreath (in desired size)
  • FloraCraft® StyroCutter® Plus
  • (25) Dollar Bills (I used $1 bills)
  • Straight Pins
  • Burlap Ribbon
  • Tags, Mini Clothespins, and Twine (for banner)

Instructions:

Using the StyroCutter Plus (one of my favorite tools!!), cut the entire wreath in half width-wise.  This is because it needs to be skinnier in order for the bills to be able to wrap around it.  This also means that you can make two wreaths from one wreath form (bonus!).  Be careful when using this tool as it gets very hot.  Read the packaging instructions carefully.  Also, let the tool do the work.  If the wand is bending, you’re pressing too hard!

Next, simply wrap each bill around the wreath and pin in the back.  Overlap as you go to cover the entire wreath.

Create a fun banner to add to the front by pinning a length of twine across the front and hanging little tags with mini clothespins.  The saying is up to you but every grad is thinking “WAHOO!!”.

Last, add a loop of burlap ribbon to the top to hang.

That’s all there is to it!  I would love to walk in and hang it right over the gift table at a graduation party…but let’s get serious, I would love to be gifted this as well (wink, wink!)!
