Rainbow Candy Topiary

With summer coming soon (hopefully) I wanted to add a bright and fun decoration to my home.  I have made candy topiaries in the past, but this time I wanted to make a fun, bright and bold candy topiary!  So I went on a hunt to find some really fun candy for this project.

This project is so easy and so fun to make!  In fact, I enlisted the help of my 10 year old daughter to help me with this and she loved it!

Supplies needed to make this project:

• FloraCraft® Make It: Fun® Foam: 9″ Cone
• FloraCraft® Make It: Fun® Foam: 3″ Cube (or other foam to fit inside the container)
• Container
• 12″ Wooden Dowel
• Straight Pins
• Green Tissue Paper
• Scissors
• 1-2 packages Airheads Xtremes -Rainbow Berry (maybe one extra for snacking while crafting!)

Instructions:

Begin by pinning a piece of candy to the bottom of the foam cone.  Wrap the candy around the cone and pin it in place as you go.  This piece of candy did not meet in the back, so we added another smaller piece of candy to create a full first row.

Continue up the cone until the entire cone is covered with fun rainbow candy, leaving about an inch from the top. Take a small piece of green tissue paper and cover the top as shown.  Secure it in place with pins.  Finish covering the foam cone with candy.

Set the cone aside and grab your container.  Fill the container with the foam cube or other piece of foam filler. You can secure it with glue if you’d like.  Then push the dowel rod into the center of the foam in the container.

Ruffle up the remaining green tissue paper and use it to cover the foam base in the container.  Just push it in around the foam and secure with little dabs of glue.  You could also fill your container with rocks or smaller wrapped candies!

Last, insert the dowel into the bottom of the candy-covered cone and secure with glue.

Viola!  You can embellish your topiary with ribbon or leave it simple like I did!

How fun!?  It is bright, colorful and perfect for your spring or summer decor or birthday celebration!
