Fur Valentine Heart Wall Decor

The fur trend seems to be very popular right now. Since it is winter, I thought this fabric would be fun to use to make a huge Valentine heart for my mantle. This project is a super simple way to make a big statement for your holiday decor. Let me show you how to create one for your home.

Supplies needed to make this project:

  • (2) FloraCraft® Make It: Fun® Foam Sheets: 36 x 12 x 1
  • FloraCraft® Make It:Fun® Foam Cutter
  • Faux Mongolian Fur Fabric: Pink
  • Straight Edge Razor
  • Low-Temp Glue Gun & Glue
  • Heart Template

Instructions:

Right click, save and then download the heart guide image provided. Enlarge your heart image on an online poster maker tool website to the desired size. Print out the image sheets.

Tape the heart together to make a guide. Lay the heart guide over two sheets of foam and draw the outline of the heart with a marker. Cut the foam along the lines with a foam cutter.

Glue the foam pieces together with low temp glue or foam adhesive. Lay the foam heart over fabric. Cut the fabric with a straight edge razor 2-3 inches from the outside of the foam heart.

TIP: Cutting fur fabric with a straight edge razor allows you to cut the base of the fabric without cutting through the fur on the opposite side of the fabric.

Roll the fabric over the foam and slowly pull the fabric and glue sections at a time. Slit the fabric to the foam with a razor for the center of the heart and the bottom of the heart. Fold the fabric over and glue down to the foam.

Hang your heart on the wall as is or glue to a small wood pallet, like below!  This would be fun hanging in front of a mirror as well.

This sweet fur heart could be used for more than just Valentine’s Day. It will make a great backdrop for a party table, photo op or children’s bedroom decor.
