Pumpkin Floral Arrangement
I just love fall. All of the beautiful colors of nature are so inspiring. Today I ‘m going to show you just how easy it is to bring some of that color indoors with this DIY pumpkin floral arrangement.
Supplies needed to make this project:
- Medium Sized Pumpkin
- 1 or 2 FloraCraft® Wet Foam Bricks (depending on size of pumpkin)
- Container or Vase (to fit inside pumpkin)
- 1 or 2 Bouquets of Fresh Flowers (for this arrangement I used contrasting colors)
- Floral Shears
- Floral Knife or Non-Serrated Knife (to cut wet foam)
- Pumpkin Carving Knife
- Large Spoon
- Large Container (to soak wet foam)
Instructions:
Start by cutting open the top of the pumpkin. Be sure the hole is big enough for the container to fit into. Use the large spoon to scoop out the seeds from the pumpkin.
Fill the large container with water. Lay the wet foam on top of the water and let it float. Allow the foam to absorb the water on its own until completely submerged. If you force the foam under the water, it will not absorb water completely through the brick so let it absorb naturally. It only take about a minute or two.
Place the container inside the pumpkin. Use the floral knife to cut the wet foam to fit the inside of the container. Fill the container with wet foam.
Use floral shears made for cutting fresh flowers for a clean cut. The flower bouquet I used had two sunflowers so I am using them as my focal flowers at the front of the arrangement. Hold the stem up to the arrangement to help judge the length of the stem before cutting. This is a round shaped arrangement so the top sunflower will be the height for the top of the arrangement. The other flowers will slope down from here to create the round shape.
The bouquet I used had a lot of yellow daises so I used them to fill in around the sunflowers and create the rounded shape for the arrangement.
I bought a bouquet with contrasting colors to create a little “pop” in the arrangement. I inserted these purple flowers evenly spaced around the yellow flowers.
Use the greenery and filler flowers from the bouquet to fill in around the arrangement and add some texture. Texture is key is today’s flower trends.
Display your pumpkin arrangement with a fun variety of mini pumpkins, gourds and fall leaves.
