Today’s festive project is these Rustic Felt Trees! I’ve seen similar tree projects like this before and loved making my own. Since the kids are at school I got started crafting right away!
Supplies needed to make this project:
FloraCraft® Make It: Fun® Foam: Cone (any size)
Felt (any color)
Birch Wood Slices
Low-Temp Glue Gun and Glue
Once you pick out your cone size and felt color you’re ready to get started!!!
I found these great pieces of wood at my craft store for around $4.00 a pack. I glued my wood pieces together and then glued it to the bottom of my cone. Make sure you use a low-temp glue gun for this project.
Next, I hand cut my felt into leaf shapes. For the larger cone, I needed two sheets of felt.
Start at the bottom of the cone and work your way up. I added a dab of glue on each leaf and firmly pressed it onto the cone. Overlap each felt leaf slightly to completely cover the cone.
Since the top of the cone is flat, I had to make my own cone shape with the felt. I was debating on adding something at the top of my tree, but I didn’t want it to look like a traditional Christmas tree, so I left it off. The felt is stiff enough that when glued together, it stood up.
I’m putting up two trees this year. One room will be FULL coastal and the other will be rustic/plaid. I think these trees will be a perfect addition to the rustic room.
As you can see these are a pretty simple project to make. I think changing out the felt colors would great. Pink for a girl’s room, or green for a boy’s room or natural tree look. You can even add something to the top if you prefer. Totally up to you!!
